Intelligent alarm warning system to assist the driver for lane changing of vehicle

STATEMENT OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of vehicle safety driving, and more specifically to an
intelligent alarm warning systems for lane changing of vehicle.

ABSTRACT
It is a common scenario on highways, for a vehicle to change the lane and overtake other
vehicles. It is the driver who has to intelligently deal with the situation to adjust the vehicle
speed, see surrounding vehicles conditions and accomplish the task. In such a complex
situation, it is most likely that a driver may take wrong decision as per safety and feasibility
norms for changing the lane and consequently result in severe accident. This is the experience
of many driver that through visual and experience to perform the lane change, sometimes the
driver has started to change lanes, but target space is not suitable for accommodating the
vehicle. So lane changing is a potential hazard, especially on busy highways. To address this
issue a warning system can be designed for lane changing comprising of sensors to collect
information about various parameters: such as running condition information of nearby
vehicles, velocity of the current vehicle, distance between the target and the current vehicles;
microprocessor to process the information; display screen to display the information and an
alarm system to warn the driver. The warning system disclosed in this utility model is capable
of providing accurate information for lane changing to the driver in time, thereby reducing
the risk of road accidents.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Currently, Google X is working on the project of making Self Driving car (SDC) or driverless
car. Similar types of other researches are also going on at domestic and foreign levels. The
idea is to run a technical program through the use of high-definition video camera, vehicle
speed sensor, image processor. The sensors will collect data from the car about front and rear
target lane information and then microprocessor will process the information about velocity
and acceleration relative to the vehicle. Required information and appropriate warning signal
will be conveyed to the driver through the display screen. But shortcomings found with these
type of systems is that their inability to work during foggy, rainy or snowy days due to the
use of the camera. Cameras gives much deviated due to different light exposure. So the driver
sitting cant rely upon the information given. In order to overcome these deficiencies present
utility model is prepared as a step towards the fulfilment of the dream Driverless car as well
as for vehicle safety driving.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION


This utility model aims to prepare an intelligent lane changing alarm warning system with the
help of laser radar detectors, microprocessor and colour display screen. Laser radar detectors
will collect precise information, microprocessors will process the data timely and colour
display screen will provide timely adequate and accurate information to the driver for
changing the lane, thereby reducing accident risks.

In order to achieve the following aspects, the model uses following technical solutions: An
intelligent alarm warning system with front and rear detectors to detect the status information
of target vehicle for acquisition of vehicle speed[1]; For processing target vehicle status
information, sensors to know the steering angle position[1]; microprocessor control display to
coordinate and process all the information for displaying the speed of the current vehicle and
target vehicle for pre-warning through voice-prompt alarm[1].

In place of microprocessor a CMOS 8-bit microcontroller installed in a box. Its four input
ports are P1.0, P1.1, P1.2, and P1.3. At P1.3 output of the front detector, at P1.1 and P1.2
output of electric speed sensor, at P1.0 output of electric sensor is connected. The two output
ports P1.4 and P1.5 are connected with display and alarm input [2].

The front and rear detector probe are of the same laser radar, before the output of the detector
and the microcontroller Pl. 0 input electrically connected to the detector output after the end
of the microcontroller Pl.1 input electrically connected, they are mounted on the front of the
vehicle, rear bumper centre position. The speed sensor uses wheel speed sensors, its output of
microcontroller Pl. 2 input port is connected, the left front wheel mounted on a vehicle. Angle
sensors using the angle sensor, the output terminal of the microcontroller Pl. 3 input port is
connected, mounted on a vehicle steering wheel. The display, with LCD or OLED display
having an input connected with the microcontroller Pl. 4 output port, installed in the right
side of the car dashboard. Alarm, wherein the use of a buzzer or dynamic speaker, an input
terminal and the microcontroller Pl. 5 output port connection, mounted on the rear of the
interior rear view mirror [2]

Compared to the existing model, the advantages of the intelligent lane changing alarm
warning system are that a laser radar is not affected by the degree of light, in bad weather
conditions can still accurately detect the front and rear target vehicle position as well as front
and rear target lane information; the use of a microprocessor, to quickly and in a timely
manner data processing with high intelligence, fast response, good control performance; the
use of the display and alarm devices, which can visually display and buzz alarm sound in
time.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
An intelligent car lane change warning systems, including for the acquisition front detectors I
