Students will write a blog post describing the events of a day of travel (based on itineraries previously
developed by the students).
Students will fill out handouts during class deconstructing a blog post and planning a blog post.

Warm Up: Students will read an excerpt from a travel blog and write down 2-3 things that they 5 min
like about the post. 3 min
Turn & talk - students will share their thoughts with their partners.

Primetime 1 Practice/Downtime Primetime 2 Time:
1. Introduction 5 mins
a. Review/Connect todays lesson to yesterdays lesson
b. Go over the learning target for today
c. Go over the agenda for today
2. New Material: Deconstructing a blog post 5 mins
a. Purpose: Why would someone write a blog?
b. Audience: Who reads blogs?
3. Practice
a. Students will identify & write down the purpose and the audience of the sample 5 mins
blog post
4. Regroup
5 mins
a. Students will discuss in groups to agree on the purpose/audience of the
sample blog post. One or two group will share with the class.

a. Content: Whats in a blog?
b. Structure: What is the structure of a blog post?
7. Putting it all together: Planning a blog post 3 mins
a. Students will receive & preview planning handout, writing checklist, rubric
8. Practice
5 mins
a. Students will fill out a handout preparing for their own blog post (ex. Why might
you write this post? Who would your audience be? What are you going to be
writing about? What is a possible title for your post?)
9. Regroup
5 min
a. Students will discuss their blog plan with a partner & provide feedback.

Closure/CelebrateLearning (7)

Give students a chance to share some of their plans with the class: titles, questions, pictures,
