FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jan. 8, 2010 – Today, Freedom House is announcing a special Waterpark Pizza
Party event designed for the whole family. Mark your calendars for the first “Families
Helping Families” event to benefit Freedom House shelter in Green Bay. The event will
be held at Tundra Lodge on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 1 to 4 p.m.
“This is our first family event and we’re tremendously excited about it,” said Robyn
Davis, Freedom House President. “We are a shelter that focuses on families with
children so it’s time we focus our community events on families as well. And who can’t
use an excuse for some family fun this time of year?”
Tickets are $25 for individuals or $75 for a group of four, and may be purchased at
all Pioneer Credit Union locations around town. Children 3 & under are free. All
proceeds will benefit Freedom House Ministries of Green Bay.
“We’re delighted to partner with Tundra Lodge and Pioneer Credit Union for this
special event,” Davis explained. “It comes at a time when funds are down but needs are
up, but it’s also sure to be a blast. We hope everyone comes out to join in the fun. It’ll be
a win for everyone.”
Freedom House Ministries, Inc. is the only homeless shelter in the area that caters
to all types of families with children, the fastest growing segment of the homeless
population. The not for profit organization was started in 1992 by a handful of Green
Bay churches to address the growing issue of homelessness. Its vision is to provide
programs that cause families to be successful in all areas of their lives – spiritually,
emotionally, socially, physically, financially and intellectually. Since its inception,
Freedom House has served 897 families and 1,807 children in the Northeastern
Wisconsin area and has a 95% success rate. In 2009, Freedom House served 85
families with 207 children. Currently 10 families are in house with 11 adults and 22
children. Another 27 families are on a waiting list (22 in Green Bay, 5 out of town).
