COACHING PLANNING GUIDE


Pre-Observation:
What is the objective of the lesson?
What TEK/unit doesnt fall under?
What MQI codes should observed?
How does the selected MQI code help you achieve your goal for your
students?

Clip Analysis:

Describe the clip using the MQI codes agreed upon?


What is working?
What needs improvement?
What assumptions are being made by the teacher?
What probing questions will you ask using the MQI language?
How would the lesson look like when elevated to higher rank on the
MQI rubric?

Post-Observation:
Coach meets with the teacher to debrief with the coach mainly acting as a
facilitator. The coach asks the planned probing questions to guide the
teacher reflect on the lesson. The coach also collaborates with the teacher to
come up with actionable steps to elevate the lesson. How would the lesson
look like when elevated?

Next Steps:
List 1-3 action steps that would help elevate the lesson

What does the teacher need from the coach?

When is the teacher videotaping and sending the next lesson?
