 What is SPIN-A-THON?

The University of Alabama's Spin-A-Thon

strives to bring joy and instill hope in the lives of our B+ Heroes and their families, while
raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer. We aim to carry out the B+
message and to Live Like Andrew every day, For The Kids.

The B+ Foundation at Alabama fundraises all year to raise awareness and funds to help
fight childhood cancer. Every fall, this effort culminates in a 6-hour Spin-A-Thon. The funds
raised benefit The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, an organization which provides
financial and emotional support for children and families battling pediatric cancer. In
addition, the organization provides funding for pediatric cancer research with the goal of
finding a way to mitigate the physical pain experienced by those living with the disease.

The Spin-A-Thon began as a collective movement between the Fraternity and Sorority
members on Alabamas campus in October of 2015. Alabama's inaugural Spin-A-Thon
took place on November 17, 2015, raising $12,254.11 in just six weeks.

In two years time, we have raised over $60,000 for The B+ Foundation and multiplied our
staff by 12. As we embark on our third year, we have set our goals high to make a
difference in the lives of our Heroes and all children and families affected by pediatric
cancer.

OUR BENEFICIARY
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation was started to
honor Andrew McDonough by his family after he passed
away from Leukemia at age 14. B+ was not only Andrews
blood type but also his way of looking at the world.
The B+ Foundation helps combat pediatric cancer in
three ways:

1. Providing financial and emotional care to families

affected by pediatric cancer.

2. Funding research initiatives to find a cure.

3. Raising awareness that kids get cancer too.
