DESIGN OF A DIE
DUE DATE FOR SUBMISSION: THURSDAY, 2 JUNE 2016 - 10.00 PM.

Design a DIE for piercing, bending or forming process. You are free to define the part and the
operation required to produce the part. The complexity of the process implies to the project
mark. A die design with high complexity of process deserves higher mark rather than the
design with less complexity.
The report should consists of the followings:
1. A press part / workpiece (All drawings should follow the standard drawing format:
views, section view if any, GDT, notation, material, processes e.g. heat treatment
etc.).
2. Explanation and calculation about the metal stamping processes.
3. A DIE assembly drawing and details drawing for each parts (All drawings should
follow the standard drawing format: views, section view if any, GDT, notation,
material, processes e.g. heat treatment etc.).

The project mark is 35% of the total mark.

The project is a group project with max. 3 students.
Late submission of the report will incur a penalty on the mark of 5% (of 100%) per day.
Groups with copy and paste of design will be penalized and given 0% mark for both.
