Materials: Posters for Decision Making Activity, Candy, Markers, Notecards, PowerPoint, Laptop
and Projector, SMART Goal Graphic Organizer
Procedure:
1.Email teachers Pre Assessment 1 week prior to presentation and monitor for
completion. Remind teachers as needed.
2. At beginning of presentation, or prior to scholars entering classroom,
distribute notecards and instruct scholars to hold on to one.
3. Slide 1: Introduce yourself, role in the school, and reason for visiting
4. Slide 2: Ask, so, what will we be talking about today? Use candy as
needed to get volunteers to read objectives. When introducing standards,
remind scholars that just as teachers have goals for student learning, so do
counselors; again, ask scholars to read standards.
5. Slide 3: Introduce group agreements: remind scholars that the group
agreements may look like the ones their teachers have established. Ask scholars
to give examples of what each agreement looks like. Before we get started,
just want to remind everyone of a few group agreements known here at DLA.
