Acceleration

Effective horizontalpeak ground acceleration coefficient in g

agh=0.5
as specified

Effective vertical peak ground acceleration coefficient in g

agv=0.3
as specified

Maximum horizontal acceleration in g for 5% damping at centre of

ah=1.25
gravity of a structure or equipment according to IEC 62271-207, Fig. 1

Maximum vertical acceleration in g for 5% damping at centre of gravity

av=0.75
of a structure or equipment according to IEC 62271-207 Fig. 1

Method of Analysis

A numerical analysis involving the Finite-Element-Method will be carried out. Choosen calculation
method is the Static-Coefficient-Analysis according to IEC 62271-207, 6.3.4, which leads, compared to
other methods, to a notably conservative nature of the end results, by regarding maximum seismic
response from response spectrum and an additional static coefficient kst=1.5.

Design accelerations in the center of gravity in g:

Horizontal ahd=kstah=1.87

Vertical avd=kstav=1.13

Loadcases

In static calculations seismic loads are added to permanent loads only. Other exceptional loads
(e.g. short-circuit forces,switching forces) and loads which frequently happen (e.g. wind) shall not be
considered at the same time. Thus following loadcombinations will be used together with earthquake:

- Dead Load + Loads by thermal expansion + Static Conductor Tension + Earthquake Load in X
+/- Earthquake Load in Z
- Dead Load + Loads by thermal expansion + Static Conductor Tension + Earthquake Load in Y
+/- Earthquake Load in Z
with X and Y as horizontal directions and Z as the vertical one.
