Demonstrate Understanding of

Figurative Language

Hey Seniors! Today youll be creating your own story, either a comedy, horror,
action or love story. In this story you will be task in using a minimum of 5 of the 13
given figurative languages. The story is a minimum of 2 pages.

Focus Question
How can I understand the difference between Understatement, Synecdoche,
Simile, Personification, Oxymoron, Onomatopoeia, Metaphor, Irony,
Hyperbole, Euphemism, Assonance ,Anaphora, Alliteration and be able to use
them in text and know why they're used in text.

1. First you will decide if you be doing a horror, action, comedy or love
story. (school appropriate)
2. Next youll find what your story is going to be about.
3. You will plot your story out
4. You will click the first link from web resource which is Figure of
Speech Examples and review.
5. After that you will click the second link Types of figures of Speech
and understand the difference between each.
6. Then youll click the last link IXL Website and play a review game to
see if you know the difference and know what they mean.
7. After that you will start your story, and incorporate a minimum of 5
figurative language in the correct way.
8. Then you will switch with someone, and check each other story.
9. Last you will turn in 2 printed copies.
