2. Siwa Oasis, or you can call it Al-Wahat in Arabic, or Sekht-am as the ancient Egyptians
were calling it, which means "Palm Land."

4. Siwa Oasis is located in Egypt, deep in the desert near the Egyptian-Libyan borders with
a capacity of twenty-three thousand people.
6. Most of the buildings of Siwa, if not all, are built of natural rock salt - even some of the
new modern buildings there.
7. Until now, still existing in the middle of town, is an old ancient fortress of Siwa called
Shali., Citizens used to live there to protect them from their enemies before the flood
came and Shali sank in it. Now, Shali is used as an ancient monument visited by tourists.
8. Siwa is in the desert but there was sea covering all this area one day. You'll find in some
places in the desert a lot of shells with beautiful shapes.
9. Siwa also has many sulfur springs that look amazing, some of them are cold and others
are hot, and you'd surely love to have a bath in these springs. One of these famous
springs is called "Cleopatra's Bath."
11. Siwa is popular for its palm and olive trees (more than seventy thousand olive trees in
the area). Olive oil is one of Siwa's popular products used in Egypt and is exported to
Europe.
