Large piece of white paper / student
multiple pieces construction paper/ student
pipe cleaners
tissue paper
pipe cleaner
googly eyes
stapler
stapers
glue sticks (students)
scissors (students)

Adaptations:

I dont know what adaptations are needed for this lesson.


Perhaps allow some students use scissors if they insist

Play Rainbow Crow on radio
Pause point: mother earth gives us everything we
need - water, food, and shelter. All things are born of her. All things
return to her. Crawlers, flyers, swimmers, two - and four- leggeds
we are all her children. We are all related.
Ask: What does this teach us about traditional
aboriginal beliefs about how humans and nature is connected?
Listen to story

Art lesson
1) students fold large white paper in half
2) next to fold, follow drawing directions in power point

3) cut crow out (outline only)


4) fill in lines on opposite side
5) use ROYGBV to determine coloring on crow
[Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet)
a) Use letter to create guide for construction paper
6) students get permission to start when finished guide
7) students tear construction paper into feathers and glue on crow
8) students cut and glue beak
9) students add details with oil pastels
10)Students glue on googly eyes
11) students create burning stick with pipe cleaner and tissue paper
12)students add fire details to wings and talk with tissue paper
13)fold wings back so flying
14)students punch holes in crow
15)students add string
16)hang in room for all to enjoy
