Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Tarkus

mags jay1 week ago

No, it wasn't sad, I was only 17 so wasn't aware of critics. Think everyone was
stunned, waiting for reaction. I heard some of it in a booth in a Glas store with
my friend. We were amazed, had seen them 1st tour, so my friends parents
bought her Tarkus, we spent long hrs in her room with it. It was new, fresh,
clever, had to get our heads round at first, being young, but we knew it was
something special. We were right, it's a piece of musical history. Will outlive
my generation and reemerge in some new configuration that's for sure. Pure
genius.

Lucky Man !! imagine being a teenager and getting Tarkus and Trilogy and Brain
Salad Surgery in a 4 year span...in this day and age. Yes I was a Lucky Man.

heard this 300x over the years, esp as a kid in the early 70s.

fuck me this is good music
Keith Emerson basically redefined keyboard for me. It's sad that
he had to die so soon after Chris Squire, but their legends will live
on in their creations.
In the mass of keyboard players to emerge in the 60s there were
many amazing talents, Jon Lord, Ian McLagen, Rick Wakeman etc
but the "Mozart" of them all was and is Keith Emerson.
Music like this is why I can legitimately claim that the shit you hear on the radio
today bites the big one. Emerson, Lake & Palmer have more talent in their pinky
finger than all of these modern day chimps put together.

The poor kids of today...
