1. The infants will be exploring the social skill of simple turn taking. By allowing their
friends to participate in the activity along with them and by them waiting/watching
or sharing, it will be evident that they are bringing the domain 1.3 Simple Turn
Taking into the play (ELECT, 2007, p. 18).

2. Through this activity, infants will also be challenging their fine motor skills by 5.2
Palmar Grasping the musical instruments with one or both hands (ELECT, 2007, p.

3. Communication, language and literacy will be involved through adult-directed song

singing. While infants use the instruments to make noise, the teachers will then
direct songs that the infants are familiar with.
Programming Purpose: The purpose of the musical instruments is to give the infants the
opportunity to freely explore by using their social skills, communication, language, literacy,
emotional and their different senses through their physical domain. This activity will help
provide evidence to show how far along the each infant is in their fine motor skills. With the
help of adults, familiar songs will be implemented into the activity to help bring a language
aspect into the activity for the infants.
