Reflection task 5

Task five is discussing the life style of the science teacher, what she does during her time in

school since the morning until the end of the day. This task has provided me with the opportunity

to continue to build a positive relationship with the MST and students as I observe her during the

day. Learning comes from observing, so doing an observation of her actions helped me to build

an understanding of the procedure that she follows. The task required adding some pictures as

evidence of the actions, which helped me to be more engage with students and the structure of

my MSTs day.

Through observation, I have learnt that starting the day with taking the attendance is important,

when I did that I used to take the attendance myself. A second important part in my science

teacher day life is having students to gather on the carpet at the beginning of the class. Students

need be more focused and avoid having them distracted with their materials back in their seats.

After students finish their achievements of the activities, the teacher reward students with

excellent answers then hang students work on science display so they will be proud of their

selves.

Finally when the science class ends, my MST asks students to line up to go to the canteen

carrying their launch boxes and cards.

The task has involved me more on the teaching environment while I was observing, looking

closely to her actions, instructions and transitions. Moreover, taking pictures to those parts have

helped me to understand the learning environment more, such as: the strategies used to reward

students, the seating arrangement of students and the structure of the lessons. Understanding

those aspects helped me in planning a good lesson with considering all the possibilities.
