Project Preparation
The purpose of this phase is to initiate the project and complete initial planning and preparation for
the SAP solution implementation project. Although each SAP project has its own unique objectives,
scope, and priorities; the tasks in Phase 1 help identify and plan the primary focus areas that need to
be considered.
The purpose of this phase is to gather business requirements and achieve a common understanding
of how the company intends to run SAP to support their business. The result is the Business
Blueprint, a detailed documentation of the results gathered during requirements workshops.
The purpose of this phase is to implement business and process requirements based on the
Business Blueprint. The goal is to have a solution built and integration tested, with end user
training & documentation material prepared, and the production environment designed & setup.
In addition, the project team gains relevant knowledge transfer.
The purpose of this phase is to complete the final preparation (including performance testing, end
user training, system management and cutover activities) and gain authorization to cut over to new
solution/go live. The Final Preparation phase also serves to resolve all critical open issues. On
successful completion of this phase, the business is ready to run with the new SAP based solution.
The purpose of this phase is to complete solution confirmation of the live productive solution and
close the project with the business successfully running the new solution.
