Reflections and Documentation/Evidence of Lesson Effectiveness

What parts of the lesson led to engagement and student learning?

UNT Lesson Plan Template
I discussed with the students the previous days lesson about choosing a job that they will like and they have the skills for.
We reviewed what skills are and how they help you be successful at work. I have a student who was starting a job that
evening and how he felt excited about it. He felt like he had the skills necessary to preform the job and could fulfill the
requirements successfully. The other students were asked to give examples of skills that they have. We continued into the
current days lesson by beginning to read the chapter number and title.

How can you increase student learning, engagement, etc., next time you teach this lesson?
Provide an example of a job, and give the students the opportunity to state the skills they believe are necessary to be
successful at that job in that specific position. I discussed a briefly about what they would enjoy doing as a job, but next
time I would spend a whole day on this topic. I would like the students to think of at least one kind of job they could
imagine they would enjoy doing. They would then research what kind of skills are necessary to perform that position. We
could extend the lesson into attitudes in the workforce after their research

What did you learn from teaching this lesson that can apply to other lessons ?
When the students can make a personal connection to the content and it is relevant in their life they will be more attentive
during the lesson. I want to challenge them and give them the opportunity to think about their future in a practical way. I
especially want to do this with the freshmen so that I can build on this information during their time with me.
