Our True Self (Part 2)

2 April 2017
Pastor Jacob Sechrest, Tay Street Baptist Church
http://www.taystreetbaptist.org.nz

Our true self is

1. Defiant (Isaiah 53:6)

2. Deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9)

3. Destructive (James 1:1315)

A downward progression toward death.
Prov. 14:12 The result of our own way.
Rom. 3:918, 23 The course of our own way.
Rom. 8:13a The result of sin.
Our hearts are so destructive, if God wanted to destroy us, all he would
have to do is leave us to our own devices.

4. Dependant (Psalm 100:3)

We are created.
The mere fact that we are created tells us that we are dependent.
Example: Second law of Thermodynamics, buildings, automobiles,
spacecraft, houses, highways, etc.
Colossians 1:16, 17 Christ created and upholds all things (c.f.
Hebrews 1:3).

The Devil did not tempt Adam and Eve to steal, to lie, to kill, to commit
adultery; he tempted them to live independent of God. Dr. Bob Jones, Sr.
