Body of Work 1 THE JOURNEY Artist as

Traveller and Collector


Planning your Body of Work. (No less than three artworks).
In conjunction with the weekly timeline already issued to you, provide an
outline of what you are proposing to produce for this current Body of
Work. Respond to the following in your visual diary.

* What will your Subject Matter, Specific Area of Focus, Theme be? (eg
Collections from Childhood). This will evolve as you experiment and as
your thoughts and ideas develop and become more refined.

* To what context will your subject matter relate historical,


philosophical, social, cultural, political, environmental, technological?
(eg Cultural artefacts collected during travel )

*What specific techniques, choice of media will best suit the imagery
based on your specific area of focus?

* What stylistic approaches will you employ? - eg abstraction,


stylisation, realism etc

* Will symbolism play an important role in your artworks or will each be


able to be viewed and received by the audience at face value, without a
search for underlying meaning?

* If you are using symbolism, identify some of the symbols you will
incorporate.

*In what format will your artwork be displayed? eg a series of several


panels diptych/triptych, installation, assemblage, ephemeral art

DONT FORGET
Research search for images & symbols which are relevant to your area
of focus; look for relevant artists and artworks to inspire your art making
Develop experiment with imagery, media and ideas
Resolve your body of work will present a collection of resolved
artworks which are linked by a common thread
Reflect you need to include continual reflections of your thoughts,
processes, ideas throughout the entire unit and a concise artists statement
after you have finished all art making, which evaluates and critiques
your body of work as a whole.
