CONCLUSIONS

1. Arequipa is an area of high probability of occurrence of earthquakes and possibly by overflowing

rivers flooding. Urban vulnerability has been increasing as the process moves towards occupying
dangerous areas of the city.
2. There is a growing shortage of green areas per inhabitant because on the one hand, the
progressive and indiscriminate reduction of agricultural areas; and on the other to the limited
number of areas for recreation and relaxation.
3. The built environment has a tendency of horizontal growth that causes the increase of the
implementation of basic services and the occupation of agricultural use (and higher socio economic
strata means) and dangerous uncultivated areas (lower socioeconomic strata).
