Activity In this activity students will be asked to create a
timeline of geological eras. This will allow the student
to explore the idea of chronology and that natural
events are sequenced chronologically. In exploring the
geological eras students will also learn about animal
life cycles through the process of evolution.

Directions for Use 1. Go to

2. Click the
button
3. Type your name in the Your Name Box. Be
sure to capitalize the first letter of your first
and last name.
4. Type Geological Eras in the Project Title
box
5. Click the Start > button in the bottom right
hand corner of the window.
6. Click on your new timeline to add events.
7. Your timeline should start on the left with
the formation of earth and end on the right
with Today or 2017
8. The following geological eras must be
included on your timeline and must be in
order from oldest on left of the timeline to
newest on the right:
- Mesozoic Era
- Paleozoic Era
- Cenozoic Era
- Precambrian Era
9. When you click to add an era, in the Box
marked Label: put the name of the era
10. In the box labeled Short Description: put the
time period of the era. Ex. (From 500 million
to 250 million years ago.)
11. Once you have found a suitable image for the
era, showing either plant or animal life from
the time, click on the choose Image button
12. When downloading images of the eras,
change the image name to the name of the
era and download to the my downloads
folder
13. In the box labeled full description list 3 life
forms that appeared during that era.
14. When you are finished click on the finish
button
15. On the next screen click on the Save Final
button
16. Save this timeline as Last Name, GE
Timeline and submit to the Timeline folder
in the Science folder
