The Fine Line Between Safe Space and Segregation

The rhetorical situation in this article is that these colleges are trying to make the
minorities feel more comfortable but it backfired. This is outlined right beneath the title. The
author states both claims that these communities both help and hurt the education of a minority.
He states that this can make the student feel more welcome. Studies show that a student is
more successful when they feel comfortable and the community would help that. Key words I
read in this article are community, criticism, home, productive. Just by looking at these key
words I can sort of get an understanding of what the article is about.

First Step to Fixing Gender Bias in Business School: Admit the Problem
The rhetorical situation of this article is that higher level colleges might have skewed towards
men. The author states that in the Harvard business school, 36% of the general student body is
women but the percentage of of them in the top 5% of their class was roughly 14%. They
attributed this to professors actually skewing grades because they are women or the system
itself. They all decided it was the system so they fixed it. They instituted a scribe to help dock
participation more accurately. They also created communities to help the education process.
Some key words I read in the article are student body, gender, percent, and change.

How America's 2-Tiered Education System Is Perpetuating Inequality

The rhetorical situation in this article is that there is a very wide gap between the funding of a
public university and a community college. The authors claims in this article are that a lot of
americans attend community college, yet they get the least federal funding of all. This is a very
2-Tiered educational system as outlined in the title. Key words I saw in this article are percent,
funding, public university and community.

The Post-Lecture Classroom: How Will Students Fare?

This article is about the flipped classroom where students watch videos and lectures at home
and do work and activities in class. This has been proven to be very effective in the three year
long studies that took place. After the study, ninety percent of the students said they preferred
the flipped classroom the best. Some key words that I read in the article are flipped, classroom,
students, and home.

Wasting Time on the Internet 101

In the rhetorical sense, I know that this article is about bored teenagers staying on the internet
and wasting their time. The author states that the teacher is trying a new concept of learning
and asking his students to watch videos and be on the internet/social media. He believes this
creates a more creative environment for students. At the end of the semester they would be
reflecting on their experience with this and what they learned throughout the process. Key
words I noticed in the article were, video, reflection, class, and time.
