As this week ends, I am patiently waiting for a signed copy of my Great Dames Learning

Contract and daily hour sheet. I have informed my site supervisor during week one that a

learning contract would be due by the end of week three. We discussed my personal goals and

the agency goals. We both had an understanding that the three goals were to developed

collaboratively and that they would be a combination of my personal goals and agency goals. I

forwarded a preliminary draft on Wednesday for her review. Sharons response was not

favorable for any of my goals, one personal and two agencies. Her comments made me feel

incompetent and inadequate. Sharon suggested that I use three of the agencies goals, as well as

to revise my strategies and measurements.

Since Wednesday I have been frustrated, discombobulated, and uncertain that I made the

right decision to intern with Great Dames. Negative thoughts continued to brew each day as

Sharon continued to reject my assignment. I realized one of my needs related to the performance

of the duties of a Human Services administrator would be to have a solution for the problem.

Instead of complaining I am assertive in my approach to come to an agreement and to be open to

suggestions and constructive feedback.

Friday evening I opened my Bible to become strengthened, inspired and encouraged, it

opened to Proverbs 24. As I began to read, peace overwhelmed my spirit and felt affirmed that I

am to seek counsel. I spoke with family and friends and decided to continue to be diligent in

revising and completing my assignment to Sharons pleasing. I incorporated three Great Dames

goals and sought a solution for my self-improvement. My self-improvement plan is to continue

to listen and be assertive so that I can achieve my personal goals within the Great Dames goals

and through other experiences.
