On a Friday in December, after my mom picked me up from

school, I went to Badillo Elementary to help make boxes of food for

impoverished families. We did this to make sure that the

underprivileged families of Badillo had dinners for Christmas. We

formed the boxes and filled the boxes with several canned foods. Each

box was filled with canned corn, canned vegetables, canned mashed

potatoes, turkey, canned cranberry sauce and gravy. We made 12 of

these boxes for different families so that they could have a dinner for

Christmas. We also made holiday cards for each of the families and

stuck them on the box.

This experience was very rewarding because I was able to help

families in need by providing them with food. As I was making the

boxes I was reminded of how much we take for granted in life. It is

important to give back to those in need when we get the chance in

order to share everything that we have been blessed with. This was

overall a very humbling and rewarding service opportunity.
