Blend phonemes
Say some sounds. Have children blend the sounds and ask how many
sound u said. Continue with bus, big, cut, sock, hen, fit.
20mins Daily high frequency words
Review high frequency word (hfw): give, new, them, for. Have children re-
read the words and make new sentences.
Developing the lesson
Grammar
Review the pronouns he, she, and we.
Have a boy stand. (James) is my friend. What word could I use to replace
James name? He.
Have a girl stand. (Emily) is my friend. What word could I use to replace
Emilys name? She.
Have some of the children stand. (Nicole, Andrew, Jason) are friends.
What word could I use to replace their names? We
Use pictures cards and ask what word could replace the subject?
The girl likes to play with her doll. (she/we)
The boy is fishing at the pound. ( she/ he)
My brother and I played soccer all day. ( we/ she)
My mother is wearing a red dress. (he/she)

Summary: Two best friends enjoy doing everything together,
Introducing the text:
Have children identify the characters
Remind the children that using a word web can help record the details in a
story as they read
