What concepts do you want students to understand after completing this lesson?

Students will understand why the gods and goddesses are important to the Greek culture and what
powers the gods had.

Criteria for Success (How will you know students have gained an understanding of the concepts?)

If students can explain the key characteristics of not only their God or goddess but describe other
students assigned characters they have gained an understanding of the concept.

Resources (What resources will you and your students use?)

Microsoft Excel, Edshelf, Brainpop, my blue robot, and polldaddy.

Technology (What technologies will be used by the teacher and students in the lesson?)

Computers

Technology Use (How will students use technology in the lesson? How will students share
technology resources?)

Students will need computers and the internet to access the resources. I will use excel to track which
student is assigned to what God or Goddess. Students will use Edshelf and Brainpop to find
information on their character. Students will use my blue robot to create an avatar of their character.
Students will use polldaddy to choose what god or Goddess they want.

4Cs integration (How are each of the 4Cs being integrated into the lesson?)

Students will use collaboration when discussing their God or Goddess to their classmates. Students
will use critical thinking to see why the Gods and Goddesses are important to the Greek culture.
Communication will be key when students are deciding what God or Goddess they want. Creativity is
very important in this lesson to learn key characteristics of the students God or Goddess and find a way
to incorporate it into their avatar.

Prior Knowledge/Skills (What knowledge and skills will students need before the lesson? How
will you assess their readiness?)

Students will need to know how to use the technology being used in the lesson, like how to use the
internet.

Engage (Capture the students attention, stimulate their thinking and help them access prior
knowledge.)

Students will be engaged and interested throughout the lesson measuring their creativity.

Explore (Give students time to think, plan, investigate, and organize collected information.)

Students will have plenty of time to do research and collect information to create an avatar that
matches their God or Goddesses characteristics.

Explain (Involve students in an analysis of their explorations. Use reflective activities to clarify
and modify their understanding.)

Students will reflect and show other students their creations and will teach each other their Gods and
Goddesses.

Elaborate (Give students the opportunity to expand and solidify their understanding of the
concept and/or apply it to a real world situation.)

The concept is for students to learn off each other's work and understand that the Gods and Goddesses
are very important in the Greeks culture.

Evaluate (Evaluate throughout the lesson. Present student with a scoring guide at the beginning.
Scoring tools developed by teachers, sometimes with student involvement, target what students
must know and do. Consistent use of scoring tools can improve learning.)

Students avatars will be graded with a rubric to ensure they match the key characteristics of their God
or goddess.
