Weekly Topic: Purpose and Tone

Objectives:

1. Students will recognize meanings/definitions of weekly academic vocabulary words.


2. Students will make and evaluate predictions during a reading passage.
3. Students will recognize purpose and tone of the reading passage.

9:30 Begin class with a prayer, take attendance, present daily
plan
9:35 Review Weekly Vocabulary Quizlet live 1
Instruct students to take out their vocabulary
packets and take 3 minutes to review List 19.
Quizlet Live Students will join the Quizlet live
game on their phones and be randomly grouped.
Each student in a group will have a different set of
vocab words on their phone and they will have to
collaborate as a group to match the word with the
definition displayed on their phone while racing
other groups to finish first.
If time permits, shuffle the groups and play again

Students open up textbook to page 344 Textbook
Ask students to summarize what they read
yesterday with a partner.
Have students sign into PollEverywhere again and
resume Wednesdays activity.
The teacher will read the first sentence of the next
section and students will type their predictions.
Students will read the section and evaluate if their
prediction was correct.
Upon completing the reading, students will identify
words that were new to them and type them into
the survey on their phones.
