To whom it may concern:

As the course coordinator and a clinical instructor, I had the pleasure of working with Vanessa
Melisi during her N-214 Health Across the Lifespan: Adults I course. Our clinical rotation was
on 3 East at Winchester Medical Center, which is a medical telemetry floor. Vanessa took care
of a patient each week, increasing her interactive skills, passing medications, and performing
interventions for the patient. She demonstrated a great deal of growth during the clinical
experience, both in the clinical setting and in her weekly care plans. Ms. Melisi would seek
assistance from peers, her primary nurse or me, as appropriate for the task. She was receptive to
feedback while learning new processes or when being reminded of proper techniques. She was
punctual for clinical and demonstrated a high degree of integrity. Vanessa is a quiet person;
however, she was able to engage with her patients in a caring and thoughtful way.

I also had Vanessa during N414: Leadership and Management in Nursing. which explores the
role of the nurse at the bedside and beyond. Topics included delegation, budgeting and staffing,
among many others. Students were assigned to groups to complete two projects, including a
quality improvement paper with an oral presentation, and a course topic presentation. Her
groups two topics were workplace violence and medication errors. Through this process,
Vanessa was able to increase her understanding of the breadth of the professional nursing role,
and learn to work on a health care committee.

With respect to her position as a nurse, I recommend Vanessa Melisi. She will be an asset to the
organization and team.

Sincerely,

Therese M. Collins, MS, RN, CNE
