Office of the Indiana Secretary of State

200 W. Washington St., Room 201 | Indianapolis, IN 46204

Fact Sheet
In 2004, only 41 percent of college-aged students voted in the presidential
election in Indiana.

Statistics nationwide show that fewer 18-24 year olds vote than any other
age group.

Within the next four years, issues brought up during an election (e.g. getting
a job, owning or renting a house, getting married, paying for healthcare, etc.)
will affect college students.

No one else is going to vote with college issues, such as student loans, job
demands and future pay decreases, in mind other than college students.

If you are an out-of-state resident attending a college in Indiana, you reserve

the right to vote in Indiana or back in your home state.

If you do choose to vote back in your home state, you must obtain a
absentee voting and abide by the absentee ballot guidelines in the state of
Indiana.

Absentee ballots must be voted and turned in by person to the circuit court
clerks office by noon on Monday, May 4, 2015.

When you do go to vote, make sure you have a picture ID with your
permanent address to show before casting your ballot.
The polls will be open on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for
students voting in the state of Indiana.
