1. Discuss the classification of amplifiers based on frequency range, type of coupling,


power delivered and signal handled OR Classify amplifier circuits based on frequency

2. What are the types of distortions in amplifiers and explain them with suitable examples
and diagrams.
3. Draw the Common Emitter Amplifier Circuit and explain the function of each component
present in the circuit.
4. Comment on Need for C1, C2 and CE.
5. Draw the h-parameter model for CB,CE and CC transistor configurations.
6. Draw the low frequency h-parameter equivalent circuit of a CE amplifier and explain the
significance of each parameter.
7. Explain- Midband analysis of BJT single stage amplifiers OR Derive the expressions
for the current gain, input impedance, voltage gain and output impedance/admittance of a
small signal transistor amplifier in terms of h-parameters. OR Analyze the
general/approximate analysis of transistor amplifier circuit using h-parameter model.

PROBLEMS

1. In a typical single stage CE amplifier, R s = 1 K , RL = 1.2 K using hfe = 50, hoe =


25x10-6 A/V, hre=2.5x10-4, hie=1100. Find AI, AV, ZI and ZO.
2. In a single stage CB amplifier circuit, R E = 20K, RC = 10 K, VEE = -20V, VCC = 20V,
RL= 10K and RS= 0.5 K. Find Ai, Av, Ri and Ro.
3. For a CE amplifier, what is the maximum value of RS for which RO differs by not more
than 10% of its value for RS=0?. Given hie=1.1 K , hfe= 50.
4. For the emitter follower circuit with RS= 0.5K, RL=5K, calculate AI, RI, AV, AVS and
R Assume h = 50, h =1K, h =25 A/V.

5. Define h-parameters of a CE transistor. A transistor has the following parameters


hie=800, hre=10-4, hfe= 80, hoe=10-7, for a load of 3K. Calculate the current gain, voltage
gain and power gain.
