Thesis is the highlight of college life as prom is to high school. This part of my
college life makes me anxious because I know someone from the University of Sto.
Thomas who repeated four times just because his thesis was rejected. As a future
thesis writer, I could just hope that my thesis turns out well just like those that I saw
posted on the third floor main building.

As I was looking at the different thesis displayed, one caught my eye, it was
entitled Synthesis of Polyaniline Nanoparticles using Cross Linked Carboxymethyl
Chitin/ Methyl Cellulose Template as Biodegradable Controlled Drug Delivery System.
The reason it caught my attention is that, while I was reading the introduction I saw the
word squid pen which makes me reminiscence my experience last semester, the
extraction of that part in squid. The objective of the thesis was to investigate the use of
PANI synthesized using cross linked CM-chitin and CM-cellulose as potential drug
release medium. The chitin and cellulose were extracted from squid pen and rice husk
respectively. Another thing that intrigues me not only in this proposal but also in others,
is the repeated use of Polyaniline or PANI, I think I saw about four thesis regarding
about PANI. As a science student it is our obligation to research about things that
sparks our curiosity. And I found out that PANI is a conducting polymer of the semi-
flexible rod polymer family with high electrical conductivity and the greatest part, is that
it is inexpensive.

What I find pleasant about their proposal is that they used wastes as their
materials which is one simple way to environmental preservation. And definitely I would
make it to a point to be resourceful when we propose our thesis by using materials that
are biodegradable. You will not only benefit the society using your proposal, the
environment as well.
