PITCH LETTER

Subject: Non-profit organization, Beyond Borders, launches its spring 2017 Girl
Power Haiti! Campaign.

With the growing concern throughout the country and world about the welfare
and safety of young girls and women, I am writing for your help in publicizing a
momentous campaign, Girl Power Haiti! which will benefit your viewers outlook on the
significance of women rights globally.

Right now, one in six girls in Haiti are enslaved, one in four suffer sexual abuse,
and just one in three complete primary school and attend high school.

Covering the Beyond Borders Girl Power Haiti! campaign will allow you to learn
about the adversities facing girls and women in Haiti and bring awareness to these
challenges. You will be able to generate support locally and around the world for the
women and girls in Haiti who are dealing with discrimination, domestic servitude,
violence and sexual abuse. We encourage you to support Beyond Borders efforts by
spreading the word about the campaign and urging your readers to check us out,
donate and get involved. The women and girls you will be helping are those that will
impact the nation of Haiti and ultimately influence the world.

Beginning on April 1, 2017, the Girl Power Haiti! campaign will run till the end of
May. We need to raise $150,000.00 in order to help those women and girls in need in
Haiti.

We have images and interview opportunities available. If youre interested in

publicizing the 2017 Girl Power Haiti! campaign, please let me know. You may refer to
this press release and fact sheet about the campaign.

Media Advisory
BEYOND BORDERS TO HOST ITS 1ST ANNUAL GIRLS FLYING KITES EVENT
FOR THE SPRING 2017 GIRL POWER HAITI! CAMPAIGN

WASHINGTON (APRIL 1, 2017) -Members of the media are invited to attend

Beyond Borders Girls Flying Kites event on Saturday April 29, 2017. Beyond Borders
will invite young girls and women from local colleges, universities and churches to be a
part of a fun-filled day where attendees make and fly kites and learn about the
challenges females in Haiti face and how volunteers can help.
In light of Beyond Borders 2017 Girl Power Haiti! campaign, Beyond Borders
would like to bring awareness to an injustice in Haiti in which girls are not allowed to fly
kites. Perhaps it is a small injustice to deny girls this joy but it is emblematic of the
discrimination that robs them of opportunities and freedoms afforded to boys.
Beyond Borders will use this activity to challenge attendees to consider the many
other forms of discrimination girls in Haiti face. Freda Catheus, who is the Model
Community Initiative Program Director for Beyond Borders in Haiti, will travel to the
states and present a presentation about the many disadvantages girls in Haiti face and
why it is important that individuals in the United States and abroad step in and volunteer
to relieve these girls.
