6. PROCEDURE

6.1 Pre Installation Procedures Responsibility

1. Ensure that approved materials are available to carry out the work. PE/SE
2. Proper materials including pipes, fittings and associated accessories PE/SE
are withdrawn from stores according to approved shop drawing and
good engineering practices.
3. Physical verification of materials will be carried out for any damages SE
prior to taking from stores.
4. Prior to commencement of work, areas and access will be inspected to CM/SE
confirm that site is ready to commence the work.
5. All relevant documentation (Drawings) and Material applicable to PE/SE
particular section of works will be checked by Site Supervisor prior to
commencement of work.
6. The Site Engineer/ Site supervisor will give necessary instructions to SE/FM
tradesmen (Plumbers) and provide necessary approved & stamped for
Construction/Shop drawings along with coordinated layouts
7. The Site Engineer/Foremen will also check that proper tools and SE/FM
equipment are available to carry out the work and are in compliance
with contract specification.
8. The Site Engineer also explains the tradesmen regarding safety SE/FM
precautions to be observed.
9. Prior to Hydrostatic Pressure testing, Site Engineer will ensure that SE/
calibrated pressure gauges are available and are in good condition. QA/QC-E

6.2 Method of Installation Responsibility

supply piping (Hot & Cold) as per approved shop drawings. In the
event that there are any discrepancies or difficulties in executing the
work, these will be brought to the notice of Project Engineer for
corrective action.
2. Coordination with other trades will be carried out while marking the CM/SE/FM
route of piping.
3. Determine the position of supports and fix the supports using anchor SE/FM
bolts and ensure all fixing are tight and secure. While drilling the
soffits, ensure that there is no damage to embedded services in the
slab.
4. Any cut edges of angles, channels or threaded rods will be touch up SE/FM
with appropriate paint.
5. Install the pipes in position on the supports. Wherever possible SE/FM
preassembly of pipes and fitting at ground level will be carried out.
6. Assemble the pipes and fittings as per approved shop drawings. CM/SE/FM
7. For joining of PP-R pipes and fitting manufacturers recommendations CM/SE/FM
will be followed.
8. Fix the female elbow/female Adopter, with cover to be located at SE/FM
proper height as per approved shop drawing. Ensure the line and
alignment with wall tiling.
9. Spacing between supports/hangers will be maintained in accordance SE/FM
with latest approved shop drawings/manufacturers
recommendations.
10. Ensure all open ends of pipes, fittings and valves are covered with CM/SE/FM
protection cap before leaving work space.

6.3. Installation of Valves and Accessories Responsibility

1. Install system valves and accessories as per latest approved shop SE/FM
drawings.
2. Ensure that system equipment, valves and accessories are secure and SE/FM
rigid.
3. The installation shall be done allowing sufficient access to all SE/FM
valves/pressure reducing valves/water hammer arrestors/strainers/
gauges as per Manufacturers recommendations.

6.4. Installation of Water Supply Risers Responsibility

METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTALLATION&TESTING OF DOMESTIC HOT AND COLD WATER SUPPLY PIPING
(THERMAL INSULATION ONLY ON CENTRALISED HOT WATER SUPPLY IN TOWER-1)

1. Pipe sizes will be identified first as per latest approved shop drawing SE/FM
and shifted to respective floors.
2. Install the supports as per approved Shop drawing/Manufacturers SE/FM
recommendations.
3. Joining of pipes will be carried out as per manufacturers SE/FM
recommendations
4. After installation of risers check the pipeline for proper alignment and SE/FM/
supports. QA/QC-E

6.5. Hydrostatic Pressure Testing Responsibility

1. Complete pipe work will be subjected to hydraulic pressure tested as CI/SE/

per technical specification. Depending on ongoing Construction QA/QC-E
activities sectional hydro testing will be under taken to meet the
requirements of the programme. Ensure that air from the system is
released to avoid fluctuation in pressure. Test pressure will not be less
than 1.5 times the working pressures but not less than 1035 KPa (for
Two hour period) which ever is greater.

Prior to any testing the system will be shown on the pressure testing
documentation, the same shall be submitted for witnessed, review and
acceptance by the Consultant engineer.
2. Pressure gauges used for Pressure testing will have valid calibration SE/
certificate. QA/QC-E
3. After successful Pressure testing ensure that piping system is fully SE/
drained and released for insulation and other related activities. QA/QC-E

6.6. Insulation Responsibility

1. Thermal Insulation of Hot water supply & return pipe work will be CM/SE/
carried out as per details as shown in approved material submittal & QA/QC-E
shop drawings. Thermal insulation of pipe joints & fittings will be
carried out after pressure testing.
2. Make sure that pipes are clean before applying any insulation. Follow CM/SE
strictly manufacturers recommendation for insulation of water supply
piping.
3. Ensure wall thickness of insulation is as per requirement. SE/FM
