About the Tool

For those that may be unfamiliar, Kahoot! is a game-based application that
fosters social learning and deepens pedagogical impact. Users have the
ability to create their own games, play one that has been shared within the
community, or even favorite a shared game and modify it to fit specific
needs.

Kahoot! is accessible on any device, as long as Internet is available. Time is

of essence, so its great that users dont have to waste, whats so precious, on
creating accounts in order to play. Users can connect and play, all in real-
time, with others in over 180 countries. Another great advantage to using
Kahoot! is that it is 100% free to use!

BlindKahooting is a form of using Kahoot! as a teaching tool for introducing

new topics.

The Activity/Lesson
8th grade math inclusion teacher wanted to
begin Unit 2 (Exponents) lesson with a bang!
Instead of giving the usual presentation, to
introduce new material, the instructor wanted
a way to actively engage students right from
the start.

To prepare for this activity, I began to research

different Web 2.0 tools that would best suit the
math classroom. Because of time constraints, I
wanted to find something that both teacher
and student were already familiar with.
BINGO, why not use Kahoot!. This group of
eighth grade students always look forward to
their weekly challenges on Fridays, via
Kahoot!.
The Standard
Creating lessons with Kahoot! is very simple.
Teachers should begin by:
1. Using their lesson plan to structure
Kahoot!,
2. Order questions carefully,
3. Embed media to guide instruction.
Its imperative that questions and media be
executed properly so that students receive the
new material effectively.
