at Athens High School, Athens OH

Wishoebroto
Edward Matovu
A. Summary

Many ways can be made to make learning engaging and interesting. One way to do it is
by creating an atmosphere that supports learning. This proposal is aimed to improve the
teaching learning process for the special needs at Athens High School. The special
needs learners require different ways of learning and it is believed by experts and
previous research that quality of learning can be improved significantly by providing a
learning space that supports the interaction between learners, instructors, and the
learning space. This 50,000.00 Dollars project, which covers activities from planning,
installing and evaluating upon completion is expected to provide better learning
experience for the special needs learners.

B. Introduction

Ylimaki in The New Instructional Leadership: ISLLC Standard Two (2014) stated that
learning should be engaging and motivating; and one way to do it is by creating a
personalized and motivating learning environment Invalid source specified.. By stating
environment, she said that the place of learning or learning space is one factor that
contributes to the success of the teaching learning process.
Athens High School is a public high school in The Plains, Ohio which is located in 1
High School Rd, at the southeast if Ohio. Similar to other public school in the country,
the Athens High School (AHS) also offers program for students who has special needs
such as physical or learning difficulties.
At the moment, there are nine students and four instructors, occupied in a special
classroom closed with the regular classroom. This room has all the requirements for a
successful and interactive teaching and learning process such as furniture, electronics and
other required amenities. Although there is nothing wrong with the room and its facilities,
the learning space for the room can be optimized to improve teaching learning process
especially in terms of interaction and communication between students and facilitators.
This proposal is aimed to foster learning interaction to imitate the situation at home into a
classroom. This will bring a sense of trust and companionship between learners and
instructors. With a friendlier atmosphere, learning process can be more comfortable and
successful.

C. Needs/Problems
