Seng Tak Khoon Many young delegates actively participated in the discussion and expressed their views After three days of discussion, the Convention proposed and accepted 5 resolutions related to “Religion”, “Current Social Issues”, “Adolescents” and “Community” as follows: 1. YBAM urges the Goverment and its relevant Ministries and Departments to have bento tam 7 more consultations with authentic Buddhist ‘organisations on issues related to Buddhism in Malaysia. This wil prevent public confusion about the authenticity of organisations that claim to be Buddhist. At the same time, the ‘Government should support YBAM's initiative to invite more authentic Buddhist speakers from overseas to propagate Buddhism in the country for the benefit of the Buddhist community. . YBAM strongly oppose the tabling of bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 in the Pariament, as this bill contradicts the secular nature of the Federal constitution, itis against the Malaysia social contract and is not suitable for a multi-racial, multireligious and mutti-cuttural society. This move will lead to constitutional crisis and affect national unity. Current Social Issues YBAM urges the Goverment to look into the state of corruption seriously, and to respect the independence of the judiciary, in order to protect the rights of the citizens. Adolescents YBAM urges the Ministry of Education to liaise with YBAM as the reference body for any matters relating to Buddhist societies in secondary school, including the request to establish Buddhist societies. Community YBAM urges member organisations to organise activities that inspire the community to practice the Dharma. The camp was attended by 80 participants from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Perak. They are mostly teachers and parents who are concemed for the children’s education. Through this camp, they were trained to master the storytelling technique by telling big lessons from small stories in the most interesting way, hence, making learning more fun and interesting for the children. ieam 27 Three mentors were truly captivating with their storyteling techniques, evoking awe and cheers from the participants. By using creative vocal techniques, mimicking, rich facial expression and a good storyline, the story unfolds before our very eyes as if coming to life. Peals of joyful laughter were often heard from the crowd during the sessions. Ms. Jeeva said, “storytelling is from heart to heart, but not from emotion to emotion, you must be confident to yourself!” She encouraged the participants to push their limits and bravely tel their own story. Mr Ng said that a wonderful story will be remembered {or a lifetime. Ms. Au advised the participants to pretend that the audience are invisible or to take off our glasses whenever we fee! nervous during storyteling, All three storytelling gurus agreed that storytelling with picture guided story books is a good method to tell Buddhist stories to children as it allows easier comprehension. To empower the young ones to build their dreams, Yayasan Belia Budchist Malaysia (YBBM) and YBAM Pahang Stale Liaison Committee took the initiatives to promote “Campus Talk” in order to share with the youths on education about lif. Recently, YBBM has invited Mr. Yee Chee Hong to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Semambu Kuantan and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Air Putih Kuantan to share with more than 300 students on the topic, “Live A Rainbow of Life". Mr. Yee is a graduate from Taiwan's National Chung Hsing University and also the founder and advisor for the Humanistic Education Training institute. At the same time, he is the certified consultant of the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and also a certified instructor of UK Mindfulness Programme. Mr. Yee's sharing was humorous and at the same time impactful. The audience just couldn't take their ears off him. From time to time, burst of laughter was heard and the One and a half hour lecture ended in the blink of an eye. Through his words, the students were given the chance to find the value of lfe and guided to be courageous, firm and diligent when building their dreams. ABBR #ee = i KSA RES = Mr. Yee further emphasised, "Determination and hard works are needed to make the dreams come true. With will and effort, we will succeed ‘Although success is not a measure of our accomplishments, it is definitely an outcome that we will not regret.” At the same time, Mr. Yee also shared the struggles and stories of some people. He made the students comprehend the uniqueness of life and motivated them to move forward and further develop their own potential The organisers are grateful for Mr. Yee's sharing and hope to have more schools to participate in the future.
