employment to foreigners.

genset you are helping build your country. Would you rather
build someone elses country?

WHERE TO BUY YOUR GENERATORS Part 2

WHERE MUST YOU BUY YOUR GENSETS?

The choice is simple and clear as daylight.

1. You can buy gensets from an upstart company without much

experience and with even less commitment to the customer or you
can buy from a company with a 26 year track record.

2. You can buy from a trader/ importer or from an ISO 9001:2008

certified manufacturer

3. You can buy from foreigners or from Filipinos (as mentioned in

Part1)

4. You can buy from new companies only trying to take advantage of
the precarious power situation or from one who has withstood the test
of 26 years in the business.

5. You can buy from companies without service support or from one
with service support.

6. You can buy from a company which promises warranty or one

which actually delivers warranty.

7. You can buy from upstarts who are here today and gone tomorrow
or from one who has been in the market for 26 years

8. You can buy from a company with 101 product lines one of which
is generators or from a company whose only business is generators.

9. You can buy from a company that offers little choice and flexibility
or from one that can build to your specific requirement and
specification

10. You can buy from a company that do not stock parts or from a
manufacturer with inventory of spare parts.

QUALITY COMES AT A PRICE. SO DOES WARRANTY.

Our view on US, European and Chinese made engines and

gensets. We build gensets using US, European and Chinese
made engines. We have been dealing with engines and gensets
since 1986 hence, we speak from experience. ( By European we
mean engines made in UK and Italy and France, Germany and
Sweden primarily.)

US and European engines are superior in quality compared to

Chinese made ones. Fuel and oil consumptions are lower.
Emission is better. Metallurgy is superior and the engine general
appearance is better. Engine accessories like starters and
charging alternators, senders, etc. are of better quality too.
Engine life cycles are longer. One fact has emerged from
experience: We have more warranty claims with Chinese made
engines than US or European ones.
One very important consideration is warranty. US and European
engines come with warranty given by the engine manufacturers
and usually executed by their dealers. Chinese engines do not
have warranty from their manufacturers. Chinese manufacturers
buy the warranty at the very start. They give the engine
customer usually 2% discount off the price and leave them on
their own to do the warranty. This is akin to prepaid warranty.
Sell and forget is the policy.
US and European engines generally cost more. Quality comes at
a price. So do warranty and good after sales service.

LOOK FOR A DEEPSEA CONTROLLER IN EVERY
GENERATOR YOU BUY

Every generator has a controller that monitors the engine and

alternator parameters making sure the engine is shutdown when
engine operating parameters like water temperature, oil
pressure, RPM, as well as alternator parameters like voltage and
frequency go beyond allowable limits.

Our Dieselec Generating Sets use only Deepsea Electronics

genset controllers. This is a UK made controller and is one of the
most reliable and easy to use controllers in the market. Chinese
and Turkish copies are found in most Chinese assembled
gensets but these controllers donot measure up to the job. Their
display become blurred and they easily breakdown with use.

ELECTRONIC ENGINES ARE THE STATE OF THE ART.

DIESEL engines have improved over the years and the

latest technology use computers to control the engine
functions including timing and firing sequence making them
much more efficient than the mechanical engines of
yesteryears. Electronic engines have better fuel and oil
consumption and less emission compared to their
mechanical counterpart. The engine control unit (ECU)
controls and monitors engine parameters more accurately
and are easy to tie up with other electronic controllers.

Because of the high cost of the electronic engine control unit

and its sensors they are mostly used in engines over 100hp
in output. (Take note that electronically governed engines
are not necessarily electronic engines. Governing refers only
to speed control.)

Whenever possible, choose an electronic engine over

mechanical ones. They are the state of the art in internal
combustion engines.

THE INTANGIBLES WHEN BUYING A GENERATOR

I. When you buy a generator and you think that after receiving
the unit you have received everything you paid for, you are
mistaken. Part of the payment you made was used to buy
warranty which you still have to receive.

II. A fact has emerged from our years of experience selling

gensets with US, European and Chinese engines: We have sold
more US and European than Chinese made engines yet we get
more warranty claims against Chinese made ones. (By
European we mean engines made in UK and Italy and France,
Germany and Sweden primarily.) We warranty our Chinese
engine driven gensets ourselves since the Chinese engine
manufacturer do not warranty them. Even the Cummins owned
local Cummins dealership do not give warranty for Cummins
engines made in China.
There are fake Cummins engines in China. It is difficult to
distinguish a fake from an original. There are only 2 cummins
engine factories in China, namely Dong Feng and Chongqing
Cummins.

III. When you are buying a generator for the first time you can
reduce your risks of making mistakes as you would when you do
something for the first time, by dealing with a company with a
long experience in the business

V. Service and after sales support are very important

considerations. Check that your supplier is capable of providing
these.
