Upcoming Events:

April 18: First group of 2nd grade SRI test: Your student was reminded today if they are
testing tomorrow. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest, good breakfast and arrive to
school on time. Testing starts at 9:30.

Spring Fling April 21: 5:35-7:30 at the school. There will be games, inflatables, food and
FUN! Please come and join us!
April 21: Field Trip for a downtown tour with Massie Heritage to connect our learning
about James Oglethorpe founding Georgia. We will eat lunch at Forsyth Park. I think you
will enjoy these two trips with your child so we would love to have you join us.

***Important*** We will be walking downtown with a tour guide, but please speak to your
child about safety. They need to pay attention to me and the guide, stay with the group,
listen carefully to directions when walking, and do not stop to look at anything unless the
group stops, or talk to anyone who is not with our group. We would LOVE to have parents
to join us for extra eyes and hands for the groups.

Reading Frameworks: Unit 4 Energy, Forces: Pushes and Pulls, The Magic School Bus
Plays Ball

Language Arts: Review skills: Multiple Meaning Words, Writing: Complete Sentences,
punctuation, adjectives. Please send in a picture of your dog to help us with writing. If
you do not have a dog, students can write a story about a dog that we meet in a story,
Using a Dictionary, Glossary, and understanding Text Features

Math: Unit 6: Unit 6 building arrays, repeated addition, beginning multiplication. Refer
to the Unit 6 Parent Letter

Social Studies: Martin Luther King, Jr., Jackie Robinson, Review: James Oglethorpe,
Tomochichi, and Mary Musgrove for our field trip, and learn about Jimmy Carter

Science: Energy: Light, sound, and Heat. This unit is combining into our reading lessons.
