6th grade Sub Plans 3/17/17


Hello, thank you for subbing in my 6th grade class! I have 26 students, I have
left you a class list, a behavior check list and a Class Dojo list. Please mark
by their names if they have displayed positive (+) or negative (-) behavior
for the day. You can mark as many Class Dojo points in positive or negative
values that you think they deserve. For example, +5 (for good behavior) or
-5 (for misbehaving).

8:55: Bell rings. Students will be lined up outside of the portable.


Students will come in, fill out agendas and KEEP them. I will check agendas
after the break.

9:00- 9:15: 40 Book Challenge. Students will be reading their


historical fiction book. Justin, Alyssa and Dominic will leave to Ms. Gs, please
take attendance by 9am to make sure they are here or not.

9:15 Until Finish CFA for Reading: This CFA covers main
idea. Students should be working quietly, absolutely NO talking.
They may take the time they need to complete this assessment.
Have them turn it in to you at the kidney table, please paperclip
all of them.

***When they finish they can start on: Writing


Prompt/Boggle - Written on whiteboard. They will respond to the board
message and take a green sheet of paper titled Make a Wish they know
what to do and they can take these home. Students will complete the
Boggle, they know where to get the game sheet.

9:45- 10:45 ELA: History of Time Zones pass them out the handout
and they will read and answer what the main idea is. Next hand them What
is the Main Idea? they need to circle the correct answer.

*At 10:30 Justin, Dominic and Alyssa will come back. Tell them they
need to get started on journal writing, boggle and respond to the
board message. After hand them the History of Time Zones they
will need support reading, you can help them at the kidney table.

Next, hand the class the Main Idea & Details handout, the directions are to
read and determine the main idea with supporting details.

After everyone finishes, hand each group a set of task cards. I have arranged
them for you. Hand them the blank answer sheet. There are 16 total task
cards and they should be doing this assignment independently.

*I have assigned a lot of work in the morning, please dont feel pressured to
finish everything.

After they finish, they can READ ONLY!!! Not draw, not color, not get
on their iPads. They may try but they know better.

10:45- 11:00: Read Aloud- Ask them to stop what they are doing and
head to the square. Read Milkweed Chapter 33-35 aloud to them. If anyone is
talking while you are reading send them back to their desk and tell them to
put their head down.

11:00- 12:15- Math: Pass out Solving One- Step and Two-Step
Equations handout/maze. When they finish hand them the Coordinate Plane
Graphing- St. Patricks Day and a sheet of graph paper.

If they finish hand them Solving Two Step Equations and tell them to refer to
the other worksheet for help. The first handout has notes.

*At 11:30 Melissa, Alyssa and Justin will leave to Ms. Gs class. They
will stay there and come back at 12:15 and walk to lunch with the
class. After lunch, Melissa, Alyssa, Justin and Diana will be at Ms.
Gs class, they will come back at 1:15.

12:15- 12:45 LUNCH At 12:10 Victor will go to the nurse. At 12:15


line them up and walk them to lunch. (please remind students to use the
restroom at recess)

12:45- 1:15 Math Continued- They will continue to work on math. If


they finish they can READ ONLY.

1:15- 2:00 Band/Genius Hour- Mr. Austell will come in to take some
of the students to band. Do not dismiss them on their own. The other half of
the students will stay with you and some of Mrs. Fuentes class will come in.
Hand them the coordinate graphing paper, if they finish they can read.

2:00- 2:45- Science: Human Body Systems word search. When they
finish hand them out the gold coins and white paper with the pot. Tell them
that they will be creating a pot of gold for St. Patricks Day. There are 9 gold
coins they will need to cut out. Tell them to write 9 things that are most

important to them. When finished they will need to cut out the pot and glue
the gold coins onto the top of the pot, I have left an example, please show
them. There should be ABSOLUTELY no talking during this time.

2:45- 3:30- Pullout/P.E. At 2:40 tell the class to pack and stack, there
should be no talking and the floor should be spotless. They know not to have
any trash, pencils or anything else of the sort on the floor. Lille will pass out a
Clorox wipe to everyone to clean the top of their desks. You can pick which
team is the quietest and ready to go, tell them they win and give them a
handful of animal crackers.

2:45- 3:30- Prep Time: Please write down a list of students who
worked hard and who misbehaved. I have left you a notes sheet to write
down anything from today. You do not have duty at the end of the day and
students will be dismissed from P.E.
