Name _______Kayla Turley______ Date _____4/12/17___

Subject ________Science____ Grade Level _____Fourth_____

Utah State Standard or Utah Core Standard:

Standard 1- Students will understand that water changes as it moves through the water
cycle.
Objective (s):
Objective 2- Students will be able to describe the water cycle.

Materials:
I would provide the water cycle note taking and coloring page in the form of label the
diagram.
My students would need a pencil and crayons.

Instructional Procedures:
First I would have a class discussion to find out what my students believed was
happening in the note paper they were handed. Then I would have them color the
worksheet. After coloring I would have them watch a PowToon Video on the water cycle.
Then I would teach the Water Cycle Rap.
Then I would show a PowerPoint on the specific steps and what they entail while having
them put down key descriptive words next to the process we were going over.
Examples of these words are: heat, up, down, gather, vapor, rain, snow, hail, sleet.

Family Connections: (take home activity)

A copy of the Rap would be sent home.
Each student would be given credit for practicing the rap at home.
The assessment would also be part of the take home activity.

Differentiation for Diverse Learners:

In my presentation of the material I would provide supports to diverse learners by
providing many nonlinguistic representations. I would provide graphics, videos, and,
pictures, as well as a modeled demonstration (if it was possible where I was teaching).

Assessment Plan: (how do you plan to assess whether or not students

gained the skill/concept?)
The next day they would get extra credit if they had the words down in the order they
went in on the paper. They would also receive credit for memorizing the water cycle rap.
The day after the rap homework I would send home a fill in worksheet to see if they
could identify the order they went in. I would have them give me a brief explanation of
what each step was.
