Substitute Plans for: Ms.

Kristin Richins

Thank you for covering my classes today. I have

included everything you should need below. Please let
me know if you had any problems with student behavior
and I will deal with it when I get back. My classes are
really great and I hope you have a fun time with them!

Teaching Schedule:
1st: Beginning Theatre
2nd: Beginning Theatre
3rd: Beginning Theatre
4th: Beginning Theatre
B Lunch
5th: Intermediate Theatre
6th: Prep
7th: Intermediate Theatre

Special Items:
1. Starter
a. On the back counter of the classroom (next to
the popcorn boxes) there are pink and green
starter papers. Hand out the pink starter
papers to all the classes.
b. Copy the following quote on the board: To
avoid criticism. Do nothing. Say nothing. Be
nothing.
c. For the 1st 5 minutes or so while you take roll
have them reflect on the quote and write 3-4
sentences on what they think the quote means,
if they agree or disagree. How it relates to
Theatre Etc.
2. Lesson Plan
a. Periods 1-4: We are rehearsing their One-
Acts. Today we will be performing what weve
blocked for each other. Well have Cast B
perform today and Cast A will perform
tomorrow. Have the kids sit in the audience
section of the class, theyll know where. After
the performance you can give them feedback
on what you saw, have them talk about the
performances. What went well? What can they
improve on? Who was making some good
acting choices? Afterwards let them get into
groups of 2 and work on memorization. Remind
them that they have a memorization test when
Im back tomorrow.
b. Period 5: They are rehearsing their One-Act,
The 7 Worst Break-Ups of All Time. Their One-
Act is shorter, so they should be able to
perform both groups in the amount of the class
period. Start with Cast B first. Give them about
15 minutes to block (choreograph) and
rehearse the scenes they wrote. (This will be
very chaotic and loud, but hopefully
productive.)
c. Period 7: They are rehearsing their One-Act,
Sixteen Shambles. They started having Cast
A perform on Friday, but we didnt finish. Have
Cast A perform from the beginning today and
perform for Cast B. If there is remaining time
have them work in groups of 2 for
memorization. Remind them they have a
memorization test tomorrow.

3. Seating Charts
a. I have printed seating in plastic sheet
protectors in a black binder on my desk. These
are the correct seatings for the students, but
we only have assigned seats when we are
using our desks, for the majority of the time we
sit on stools and I let them sit wherever they
want.
b. Please take attendance at the beginning of
class.
4. Other Items
a. If you have any problems or need anything feel
free to ask the teachers in the portables next
to you. Most of them work only half days so if
you have problems from Periods 1-4 talk to
Lacey Syme in Portable 5. If you have problems
from Periods 5-7 talk to ShayLee Helquist in
Portable 6.
