Structural Fire Montgomery ST
Structural Fire Montgomery ST
RELEASE
At 6:00 PM on 18 April 2017 Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Service received an alarm
for a structural fire on the 500 block of Montgomery St. The first arriving Pumper
crew encountered smoke coming from the structure and filling the street. A
second alarm was called for and fire attack was commenced. A total of five
pumpers and an aerial ladder carrying 21 fire fighters responded to combat the
fire. The fire was quickly knocked down by an exterior attack from the rear door of
the residence. Crews entered the structure and extinguished extension and spot
fires. No one was home at the time of the fire but one pet succumbed to the
smoke. The home was rendered uninhabitable with the occupant arranging
alternate accommodations. A fire inspector attended the scene to start an
investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The cause remains
under investigation though fire started in the kitchen.
