Prior knowledge/background information:


- Building on from previous work on climate.
- Students have looked into temperate, tropical, and arid climates
- Students are aware that they will be looking into polar

Lesson outcome: By the end of this lesson, all students understand what a polar climate is

On the mat

Today we are going to learn more about climates with a focus on polar climates.
Looking at our climate map, we can see that the arctic and Antarctica are part of
the polar climate.

our lesson into a letter.

Climate is the average weather in a place over many years. While the weather
can change in just a few hours, climate takes hundreds, thousands, even millions
of years to change.

Hand out worksheets

Today we will watch a short video about the polar climate. As you are watching
you are listening for the main facts and information about a polar climate.

question together.

letter to. The focus of your letter is about the climate. You need to take your
information of what you already know about letter writing and apply it.
