Welcome!
Welcome to Aldersgate Church!
Were glad youve found our church! We hope youll find us to be an
encouraging, friendly group of people. While we dont make any claims
to be perfect, at our church we come together to help make the
kingdom of God a reality on earth by loving God and loving our
neighbor.
For our youngest friends
A professionally staffed nursery is available for children birth through
age three during all services and Sunday School on the lower level. An
usher will be happy to direct you. Additionally, a Parent Room is
available in the Parlor adjacent to the Sanctuary, for viewing and
hearing all services. Please ask an usher to show you the way. All
restrooms are equipped with changing tables.
Listening To Each Other About
Our Children and Youth
YOURE INVITED! Please join us in the Reed Room on TODAY from 12 to
2:30pm for a potluck lunch and to learn about our current children and
youth ministries at AUMC. We would love to hear YOUR ideas! This will
be a vital opportunity for Aldersgate members (of ALL AGES) to gather
and prayerfully consider our support of our youngest friends! Nursery
care is provided.
 Collection for Emergency Food Network
The Outreach & Missions Team will be collecting food items for the
Emergency Food Network during the month of April. Suggested items
include: Breakfast cereal, canned fruit, canned pasta with sauce, canned
vegetables, baking mixes for cakes/breads/pancake mixes, coffee/tea.
Place your contributions in the collection bins in the Reed Room and the
Welcome Center. Monetary donations are also welcome.
Agape Sunday School Class
The AGAPE Sunday School class begins a new study today. We will be
using the Efird Bible Study on the book of Psalms along with other
materials. AGAPE meets at 10am in Room 108 on the lower level and we
encourage you to join us. It is not a problem if you cannot attend every
week. Come when you can and give us a try. Jeanne Hamlin will be
facilitating the discussion.
Paschal Candle
Aldersgate Church will be lighting a paschal candle for worship services
during the Great Fifty Days of Easter. The paschal candle will help us
remember that Easter is not just one Sunday but a fifty day season from
Jesus' resurrection to Pentecost. The paschal candle that Aldersgate
Church is lighting is 36 inches tall and is adorned with wax symbols of
Easter Lilies. The Easter Lily is a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus
Christ, rebirth, and a new beginning. Sometimes called the Easter candle
or Christ candle, the name, paschal candle, comes from pasach, the
Hebrew word for Passover. The candle symbolizes the light of Christ
banishing darkness and death. This tall white candle represents Christs
steadfast presence in our midst.
Autism Speaks
There will be a volunteer information session for Autism Speaks at 4pm
on Sunday, April 30 in Room 208. This will be led by Fay Painter, AUMC
member, who is the Executive Director of Autism Speaks, National
Capital Area Chapter (serving Virginia, Maryland and DC). All are invited

-resurrection appearances of Jesus and
examining the hope that we have in Jesus
that "does not disappoint us," through
Ascension Sunday. Join the Aldersgate
Church family as we Come Alive!
Stop Hunger Now/Rise Against Hunger packaging event
Come join friends from around the Charlottesville District to package
meals for the hungry. All ages welcome, so bring the family! Come to
Rodes UMC in Afton next Sunday, April 30, at 1:30 pm, worship to
follow. Help the District Youth reach their goal of $3,000 by making a
contribution. Checks should be made payable to Rise Against Hunger
and mailed to Rebecca Wagner, 7071 Jarmans Gap Road, Crozet, VA

Thank You
The Missions/Outreach team wishes to thank each and every one of you
for your support, your donations of supplies and food, your time and
most importantly, your prayers. We had awesome volunteers who
stepped in wherever they were needed. During our shelter week we
provided meals, snacks, fellowship and a safe, dry place to sleep for 24
to 31 men each night. Please continue to pray for our guests as the
PACEM sheltering program has come to an end for the season.
