Chicas Verdes: Food Desert Homeroom Workshops

Chicas Verdes began in 2015 with the belief that promoting health
and wellness in our community was an essence to combat the food
desert and diseases we get from eating unhealthy food.We want to
educate our peers and community about the benefits of living a
healthy lifestyle. In order to do so, we provide information on how
to be healthy, as well as providing students on campus with
affordable and healthy snacks and educational workshops.

Dear Teachers,

Chicas Verdes is hosting their second annual Food Desert event. We would like
to ask all homeroom teachers, who are interested in having their class participate in
our educational workshops to please sign up. Space is limited and we will only take
in FOUR homeroom classes. All SLCs and grade levels welcomed. The workshops will
be facilitated by 2 Chicas Verdes team members during your homeroom class time.

These workshops will consist of:

Pre/Post Surveys
Movie Screenings
Educational Presentations
Hands on activities
Socratic Seminars
Smoothie/food sampling
Garden Exploration

Workshops will begin Friday, February 17 and continue on the following dates: March
3rd, March 17th, March 30th, and our final workshop on April 7th.

If you are interested in having your homeroom class participate in our workshop
please sign up and return the sheet (attached to the back of this sheet) to Ms.
Bermudez by Monday, February 6th.
