Happy 4 of July! Some 234 years ago

a few brave men risked their professional
lives as well as their own life to change the
future. Their deeds have changed our country,
and even the world, for the better.
Over the past thirty years, similar
professionals made a commitment to find
answers to the medical mystery called SIDS.
For some, the risk was very significant;
nevertheless, many found their work
rewarded by reducing the risk to infant death
as well as reducing the numbers of SIDS
victims. Since 1969 when the term SIDS was
first coined, the frequency of SIDS has
dropped more than sixty seven percent (67
%.) This could not have happened without
brave men and women taking risks and
making a commitment to make the future
better for parents and our world community.
I have been thinking about Infant
Mortality and understand that, even with the
efforts mentioned above; some babies born
this past year will not celebrate their first
birthday. It will not be because of anything
their caregiver did, or what anyone else did.
It is because we have not had enough people
reaching out with the right effort to help
eradicate SIDS and other causes of infant
death.
We at the Florida SIDS do our small part
but I feel guilty because I know we have not
done enough. Our busy lives demand so
much and then, like me, we get older and
have less energy to support our busy lives.
Just imagine what life in this country
would be if those young men who ended up
in Philadelphia so many years ago set as
priority their farms, banks, merchant
business, legal practices, etc instead of
focusing on freedom. So many issues
deserve our attention, deserve dedicated
people to make a difference: education,

As we come to the close of the 2nd quarter of 2010, it’s that time of the year again...time think about pleasant October days and teeing
off at 7:45am for the 5th Annual JNB Foundation Golf Tournament!
We are pleased to announce that the 5th Annual Jacob Neil Boger Foundation Golf Tournament has been scheduled for October 23,
2010 at Metrowest Golf Club! The course is consistently one of the favorites in Orlando. We need your support this year as we continue
to expand our commitment to find a cure for SIDS and support other worthy pediatric medical research and healthcare efforts.
If you would like, you can email us for a copy of our annual letter providing updates of all our activities along with the registration flyer
for the 2010 tournament. In the past, we have provided funding for Dr. Kinney’s lab at Children’s Hospital of Boston, as wll as the
Neuroblastoma Cancer Fund, the Progeria Research Foundation, and Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital for their pediatric ICU. Please
join us at Metrowest Golf Club this year, or better yet, put together a foursome of friends, family, or business associates! The rates remain
unchanged from last year’s reduced rates.
If you have played with us before and enjoyed yourselves, we would love for you to bring additional players. The basic foursome rate
is $540 and includes range balls, breakfast, an 18 hole scramble with prizes, and the auction/awards luncheon after golf.
