Standards, objectives and long term goals for development.

o F-IF.7: Graph functions expressed symbolically and show key features of the graph, by hand in simple cases and using technology for more
complicated cases.
A-SSE.3: Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain properties of the quantity represented by the expression.
(a)Factor a quadratic expression to reveal the zeros of the function it defines. (b)Complete the square in a quadratic expression to reveal the
maximum or minimum value of the function it defines.

A-REI.4: Solve quadratic equations in one variable.

Use the method of completing the square to transform any quadratic equation in x into an equation of the form q= (x-p)2-k that
has the same solutions. Derive the quadratic formula from this form.
F-IF.8 :Write a function defined by an expression in different but equivalent forms to reveal and explain different properties of the function.
Use the process of factoring and completing the square in a quadratic function to show zeros, extreme values, and symmetry of the
graph, and interpret these in terms of a context.
F-BF.3: Identify the effect on the graph of replacing f(x) by f(x) + k, k f(x), f(kx), and f(x + k) for special values of k (both positive and negative); and
the value of k given the graphs. Experiment with cases and illustrate an explanation of the effects on the graph using technology. Include recognizing
even and odd functions from their graphs and algebraic expressions for them.

o Students are expected to graph in each of the forms and have structured the unit to address graphing quadratics in Standard form, Factored
Form and Vertex form in that order. Students are expected to find the critical points such as vertex, Axis Of Symmetry, y-intercept, x-
intercepts, Domain and Range and 3 other points from each of the three forms.
o SWBAT to identify and perform transformations on Quadratics including translations, reflections, and dilations(vertical compression and
stretch).

DETERMINE ACCEPTABLE
EVIDENCE/ASSESSMENTS
Assessments were created in advance that assess the key
components to graphing in each form.

Ch.2 Quiz #1: Graphing in Standard Form- Students find the
AOS,Vertex, Y-intercept, domain and Range.

Ch.2 Quiz #2: Students graph in Factored form, identify x
intercepts, AOS, Vertex, Y-intercept.

Ch.2 Quiz #3: Students rewrite equations from Standard form to
Vertex Form. Students graph in Vertex form.
