Title: Fun Shapes
Grade: Kindergarten

Materials Needed
Construction paper
Crayons
One copy of The Shape of Things
Ball, pyramid, square block, and any other shape objects you wish to include.
Goals:
The student will learn about different shapes.
The student will be able to name each shape and tell why it is important.
Objectives:
The student will understand why shapes are important.
The student will be able to differentiate between shapes.
The student will be able to explain why it is important to have different shapes.
The student will recognize that there are shapes making up everything in the world
around us.
Instructional Procedure
1. Show some different shapes to the students and teach them the names of each.
2. Read The Shape of Things.
3. Talk about the different areas they see shapes every day.
4. Have the students draw all the shapes they can think of.
5. Have the student label their shapes.
6. Ask comprehension questions.
7. Grade according to the shapes rubric.

Adaptations to Meet Individual Needs:
