Web 2.0 Tools to Support Collaborative learning

Read the directions in Blackboard on how to complete this sheet.

they deem relevant and as the teacher you can have classroom
discussions the next morning based on the current events that the
students chose.

Positives and Positives


challenges of 1) The site is very organized and easy to maneuver through.
using the tool 2) You have the ability to join groups with your classmates and see
each others work which makes collaboration super convenient.
3) Edmodo has a mobile tool which allows students to use the site
on their iPad, and iPhones which is super convenient in an age
where technology is on the rise.
4) Edmodo appeals to students in the sense that they can add a
personal touch to it by displaying a profile picture and customize
their profile to a degree.
Negative

1) Edmodo is not great for quizzes/test as its not secure and


students can easily cheat by looking at one anothers
computers/mobile devices.
2) Even though Edmodo can be displayed on mobile devices there
are many reviews stating there are technical issues with it and
that it will often crash so this does pose a certain threat.
3) Students can communicate with each other via Edmodo which is
a good thing however with that comes the opportunity for
students to cyberbully one another so as a teacher you need to

stay on top of that.

1) Not all students have gmail or internet
2) Tools are very basic for high schoolers
3) Hard to use when projects require multiple pics because it looks
chaotic
