Paper: Modelling of Ageing Distribution Cable for Replacement Planning

This study was initially set to find the impact of aging cable on the network
performance and suggest appropriate cable ranking method. Two ranking
methods are studied:

Using the thermal loss-of-life,

Using the proposed, financial-based ranking method.

Sequential Monte Carlo Simulation annual load profile

SMC is can be used to simulate a process with alternating aging failures and
replacements.

PhD thesis: Probabilistic Methodology for Prioritising Replacement of Ageing

Power Transformers Based on Reliability Assessment of Transmission System

Non-Sequential Monte Carlo Simulation multistep load model

The purpose of the reliability assessment (for the paper) would be:
To show the effects of loading and weather conditions on system
performance (Arrhenius-Weibull distribution)
To compare reliability assessments using normal and Arrhenius-Weibull
distributions (index ENS)

In the PhD thesis, the multistep load model was used to analyse normal
operating conditions of power transformers. (without exceeding the maximum
HST)
I chose weather conditions that increased the conductor temperature beyond 90
(C) to show the influence of high temperature on the unavailability of overhead
lines.
Is this assumption reasonable for the reliability analysis of the test system?

Dynamic thermal ratings?
