February 13 February 17

Dear Parents,

Happy Monday! Thank you for sending in Valentines cards with your
student this morning. If you were not able to, please email me to confirm
that your child will have them tomorrow. I want to make sure all stu-
dents are able to participate in our fun celebration.

Calling all runners! The Palmetto Youth Half Marathon

is coming up on Friday, April 7th. CFKN will create a team to
participate in the event. We will meet Tuesday and Thursday
afternoons (beginning February 21st) to run/walk our laps
and record our miles. At the event, we will all complete our last
1.1 miles together! Please refer to your email for more details
(sent last week). You must email me if you would like your child
to participate. I always get asked if this is Kindergarten-Friendly.
Yes! We encourage all students to participate, and will have
teacher volunteers at the practices and race to make sure the kiddos are hydrated,
happy, and healthy!

As part of our practice in creating number bonds, we are learning to play

the Part-Part-Whole Game as reinforcement. A snack bag with Popsicle
sticks and instructions was sent home last week (please keep at home). You can
also use objects such as straws or toothpicks to play this game. The purpose of this
game is to create automaticity in the different ways to create a number. You will
show your child a number of Popsicle sticks and then hide part of that number
behind your back, asking them to tell you what number you are hiding.
For example: Making the number bonds for 5, say Whole
is 5 (hide all sticks behind back), if part is 2 (show 2 sticks in one
hand), what is the other part? (3 sticks remain hidden in the other hand
behind your back). Your child should automatically be able to tell you RELATED ARTS SCHEDULE
that 3 sticks remain behind your back.
